Silkscreen is a rich, expressive and versatile medium. This course will cover screen printing basics with an emphasis on making painterly prints. Print multiple layers of your image using hand-painted/drawn color separations and transparent inks to achieve a painted effect. Drawing and painting directly on the screen to create silkscreen monotypes will be included. Experimentation is encouraged! Express your ideas using hand-drawn, digital, or photographic techniques. Printing on paper, wood, fabric, metal and glass is possible. Previous printmaking experience is not required.
