Shen Wei: “One of the premier artists of his generation, Shen Wei describes the emotional journey of return to the lost China of his youth,” says Permuth. “The resulting photographs, poised somewhere between dream and reality, were collected in his seminal monograph, Chinese Sentiment.”

Pixy Liao: A Shanghai-born and NYC-based fine-art photographer whose practice shatters the boundaries of intimate personal relationship documentation. “Best known for her long-term photographic project with her partner Moro, Pixy’s straightforward approach is reflected in her inspiring and insightful i3 lecture,” Eismann says.

Margit Erb: “It was a true honor to welcome Margit Erb, director at The Saul Leiter Foundation, which is dedicated to preserving the art and legacy of the American photographer and painter Saul Leiter (1923–2013), and to the appreciation, advancement and conservation of photographic works worldwide,” recalls Eismann.

The i3 series continues this fall with lectures every other Tuesday. Don’t miss Russell Brown on October 12, Malike Sidibe on October 26, Wendel White on November 9, Suzanne Stein on November 30 and Polly Irungu on December 14. More than 150 speakers can be found in the extensive video archives of the series, available to view online. “On Turning 10: An i3 Family Album,” a companion retrospective exhibition curated by Permuth, is on view at Brooklyn’s Photoville in Brooklyn Bridge Park through December 1.

“Almost 200 photographers, gallerists, photo editors, critics and experts have shared their knowledge with our students and the greater international photography community,” says Eismann. “As rich as the current selection of lectures currently are, I look forward to the continued inspiration and information that is yet to come.”
