We recently caught up with Yasaman Alipour, who graduated from SVA in 2015 with a BFA in Photography. She talked about tapping into her visual heritage, transforming herself creatively, how she landed a competitive art director position and more.

Congratulations on being in the Pulse Miami Contemporary Art Fair last year. What else have you been doing lately?

I recently got a job as the digital art director for The Brooklyn Rail. I started as an intern while I was a student at SVA. I only got the extremely competitive position because they were familiar with SVA and the SVA Galleries. This is in addition to my monthly commitments to writing (for the Rail and Photograph Magazine) and my art practice. I am also applying to grad school.
