Multidisciplinary artist, experimental musician, and 2015 VCS graduate Julia Santoli forwarded an announcement of an event that she'll be participating in tonight:

Sharing an announcement of "Soleil Solace,'"inspired by trust through uncertainty. I made the film with Bayley Sweitzer on camera, and recorded a visualization meditation for Caroline Partamian (Joshua Tree, CA), Elico Suzuki aka Suzueri (Tokyo, JP), and I (Brooklyn, NY) to practice before recording our improvised parts in our separate locales. This thread of connection led to the final arrangement and film. I think this feeling of meditation translates through the piece, hopefully providing echoes of grounding space.

This was commissioned as part of a great series "With Women's Work" so please check out some of the other pieces. It's in celebration of the anthology edited by Annea Lockwood and Allison Knowles a few decades ago, which was recently re-published by Primary Information. My inspiration is in response to Heidi von Gunden's piece "Sole Source." She created a large quilt of different textures for blindfolded players to traverse barefoot and blindfolded, improvising guided by their sensations and focus on specific dynamics.
