MFA Art Writing presents artist Eduardo Navarro, who with department faculty member Dejan Lukic will discuss his current show at the Drawing Center, "Into Ourselves," and its central idea of "shifting aesthetic primacy away from the eye and the world of ideas to the stomach and the metabolic system." They will also address Navarro's earlier works, ranging from installation to performance, where art and science converge with intricate and humorous simplicity. This talk is part of the program's Quijote Talks lecture series.

Eduardo Navarro was born in Buenos Aires in 1979. Solo exhibitions of his work have been presented by the Museo Tamayo in Mexico City; High Line in New York; and DiTella University in Buenos Aires. His work was included in the 32nd São Paulo Biennial, "Live Uncertainty" (2016); Frieze projects, New York (2016); "Surround Audience," New Museum Triennial, New York (2015); "The Past, The Present, The Possible," Sharjah Biennial, UEA (2015); "We, the Outsiders," e-flux, New York (2014); "Ir para Volver," Cuenca Biennial, Ecuador (2014); "Weather Permission," Mercosur Biennial (2013); "There is always a cup of sea to sail in," 29th São Paulo Biennial (2010); and "Screaming and Hearing," Mercosul Biennial (2009).

Dejan Lukic was born in Croatia in 1973. He serves as a faculty member in the MFA Art Writing program at the School of Visual Arts in New York. Previously, he taught at Reed College, the New School, Rutgers University and Columbia University. His writing encompasses art, philosophy and politics.

Quijote Talks take place in the MFA Art Writing library on 21st Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues in Chelsea. Named after the program's favorite after-lecture hangout, El Quijote in the Chelsea Hotel, and inspired by the knight errant himself, this lecture series consists of pointed talks and discussions about relevant pasts and possible futures.
