Sponsored by MPS Art Therapy and Counseling In Schools (CIS), The Future of Healing in Schools is an initiative taking place at MPS Art Therapy's gallery space during the month of June. The initiative will be an opportunity for friends, sponsors and supporters to help raise critical funds and bring awareness to the work that CIS is currently doing with over 7,000 students in 70 schools throughout NYC.

The series will begin with the "In My Truth, In My Power" exhibition, organized by MPS Art Therapy alumnus and CIS art therapist Amanda Smith. The exhibition will feature work created by students in art therapy programs that are led by CIS art therapists. The reception, taking place on Thursday, June 6, is open to friends of SVA and CIS. There will also be a roundtable discussion on Thursday, June 27, on the transformative work being done in CIS school communities. The conversation will center around the healing elements that emerge from various forms of engagement, including social work, art, drama, music and movement therapy, and will take place directly across the street from the exhibition at 133/141 West 21st Street, Room 101C. This event is free and open to the public.

For 32 years, Counseling In Schools has created programs that place mental health professionals, social workers, art, drama, dance and music therapists in schools throughout New York City.
