In his recent farewell address, President Obama said, “Change only happens when ordinary people get involved, get engaged, and come together to demand it.” Those seeking to heed that call will have plenty of opportunities to do so over the weekend and on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which in addition to honoring the late Civil Rights leader has become a national day of service. Below are links to five events in the New York City area for those looking to roll up their sleeves and lend a hand.

1) 2017 Hunger Free America MLK Weekend of Service

2) SCA ConSERVE NYC: MLK Day Service at Morningside Park

3) MLK Weekend of Service Snap and Health Benefits Outreach

4) Volunteer at Food Bank NYC

5) MLK Day of Service with New York Cares
