Kyubin Gil, student, BFA Design

Kyubin Gil is a designer from Seoul, Korea. Kyubin’s art reflects on the broader spectrum of identity associated with femininity. Encouraged by her peers to embrace imagination and unapologetic voice, Kyubin advocates for observing societal inequalities and striving for improvement. Through her art, she aims to share these perspectives, particularly empowering women to transcend social confines and embrace their voices freely. While facing a language barrier, art became Kyubin’s universal language, leading her to the exploration of various forms of visual expression. Inspired by cultural comparisons and everyday experiences, her work delves into insights gained from his upbringing in diverse environments, bringing her back to the memories of attending all-girls schools throughout her life in Seoul and Maryland.

Laura Trujillo Salazar, student, BFA Visual and Critical Studies

Laura is a sculptor whose practice centers on bioplastics and biodegradable tools as alternatives to petrochemicals and non-renewable resources. Laura levers the potential of “DIY” process to promote sustainability and seeks to delve into the cultural and philosophical dimensions of feminism through an environmental lens. Drawing from realms such as consumer activism, colonialism, and capitalism. Laura explores the imperative of actively dismantling patriarchal structures to foster sustainability and social progress.
