A team of four (President, Vice President, Treasurer and Student Senate Chair) must be created in order to run in the election. Students cannot run individually.
A VASA member’s elected term is July to May beginning after the election.
Team members may not hold the following positions for the academic year in which they intend to serve:
Resident Assistants (RAs)
Orientation Leaders (OLs)
Manager or Assistant Manager of WSVA Radio or Student Center
Editor in Chief, Designer, or Managing Editor for Visual Opinion
Registered club leader, including Club President or Club Treasurer
Each team must complete and submit a Candidate Application Packet (available at mandatory information sessions throughout the year) and procure 150 current SVA student signatures by the specified deadline (to be shared at information sessions).
All team members must have attended SVA for at least two full semesters by the start of their VASA term, and must be returning the next academic year as a full-time student.
Candidates must be on campus full-time during the entirety of their term and cannot study abroad.
All team members must be in good academic, financial and judicial standing with the College.
Each individual team member must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher and, if elected, must maintain a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA throughout their term.
At least one member of each team must attend one of three information sessions, hosted and advertised by Student Engagement and Leadership.
