JOB TITLE: Director of Operations

 

DEPARTMENT: MPS Directing

 

REPORTS TO: Department Chair

 

POSITION OVERVIEW: Responsible for developing, setting-up and running the

Department facilities and operations with the Department Chair. Ensures the

Department provides the necessary facilities, materials and support for the MPS

Directing program. Assists the Department Chair with special projects, curriculum

changes, and student/staff issues and development.

 

WORK SCHEDULE: M-F, 10:00am - 6:00pm (additional hours as needed)

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Assist the chairperson(s) with professional and academic work, pertaining primarily to MPS Directing
  • Arrange promotional events, and social liaisons
  • Work with the Department Chair to develop the operating and administrative budgets; maintain the department’s finances and monitor the budget accordingly.
  • Student recruitment, admissions and application coordination
  • Coordinate Guest Lecturers, workshops, and special events
  • Produce end of the year Thesis Film Festivals
  • Coordinate and manage departmental personnel paperwork
  • Work with personnel in the department to identify equipment and facility needs
  • Lead the process of creating department marketing and development literature
  • Manage the academic student services process
  • Lead the planning recruitment and retention activities
  • Function as Academic Advisor to MPS Directing students
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline from an accredited institution required.
  • 3 - 5 years related experience.
  • Knowledge of film industry a plus
  • Computer literacy in Mac OS (Windows NT and 2000 a plus), experience with MS Office
  • Experience with Google Workspace, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent leadership abilities, communication skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Understanding of the protocols and objectives of higher education, and filmmaking.
  • Strong customer service experience.
  • Previous managerial experience.
