Position Overview:     Serve as primary resource for establishing and maintaining positive and active relations with key two-year colleges throughout the country with the goal of promoting transfer enrollment. Work independently and as a member of a team to identify, counsel and enroll prospective students who will benefit from matriculation in the degree programs of the college. Represent the college at recruitment activities and events and counsel transfer students from prospect to enrollment.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

·       Serve as the primary contact for prospective transfer students and applicants.

·       Travel to college fairs, portfolio days and recruitment events to interview students. Intensive recruitment travel spans weekends throughout the fall and occasional outings in the spring.

·       Arrange and conduct dynamic presentations at key feeder and two-year colleges throughout the country.

·       Address questions and inquiries received from faculty and department chairs at key schools in an expedient manner.

·       Assess and streamline transfer application review process with departmental goals, efficiency, and staff resources in mind.

·       Oversee the evaluation and re-evaluation of applicant transcripts and the awarding of transfer credit.

·       Evaluate credit awards for re-entering students and serve as liaison between Admissions and Undergraduate departments to determine placement in BFA programs.

·       Ensure transfer credit policies align with yearly curriculum updates.

·       Communicate with SVA department chairs and academic advisors regarding transfer students.

·       Develop a broad working knowledge of undergraduate file review practices including those related to the freshman applicants, the EVA program as well as re-entering and special students.

·       Work with Associate Director of Admissions to designate key colleges. Compile and maintain a database of such institutions to strategize outreach and plan visits.

·       Establish and monitor articulation agreements with key colleges where possible. Maintain up-to-date records of related policies and procedures.

·       Conduct transfer file review training for admissions counselors.

·       Plan on-campus counseling sessions for transfer applicants and transfer specific events.

·       Actively participate in staff meetings, training programs, and open house events.

·       Maintain positive working relations with Financial Aid, Academic Advisement, the Registrar, and Student Accounts, among others. 

·       Submit travel and expense reports regularly.

·       Perform other job-related duties or special projects as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in studio art or related field required, BFA preferred.
  • Two-to-three years related full-time work experience.
  • Interest and commitment to the goals of higher education.
  • Knowledge of art, design and visual culture and the ability to discuss

these subjects with college students and their professors.

  • Interest and sensitivity toward the needs of transfer students.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Adaptable to change and ability to respond well to pressure.
  • Exceptional presentation skills and comfort with public speaking.
  • Ability to work well with diverse constituencies.
  • Ability to work independently and as member of team.
  • Computer literacy including familiarity with PC platforms and knowledge of MSWord, Excel, Google Suite helpful.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work evening and weekend hours.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
