Position Overview: This position will oversee the maintenance and care of studios used primarily for first-year painting and drawing courses. The position will interface with faculty and students to ensure that the studios are monitored for cleanliness and outfitted with established inventory, and that storage lockers are assigned to teaching instructors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Daily monitoring of approximately nine mixed-use studios scheduled primarily for first-year painting and drawing courses; ensure that each studio has the requisite amount of equipment necessary for conducting classes on an ongoing basis
- In conjunction with Facilities, develop and maintain a process for tagging equipment and ensuring that all chairs, easels, taborets, drawing horses, etc. remain within their assigned rooms
- Establish policies for studio etiquette with regard to cleanliness and storage of student work, create appropriate signage, and ensure that protocols are being followed
- Ensure that the conditions of the studios are kept neat, clean, orderly, and properly functioning at all times; work with Facilities to address any cleanliness issues expeditiously
- Assist faculty and students with troubleshooting and/or proper use of studio equipment and accessories
- Facilitate the assignment of storage lockers in various studios each semester; work with faculty to assess storage needs and assign lockers, maintain an assignment database with current and accurate information, establish protocol and expectations around locker usage, and communicate deadlines to vacate; empty lockers of any discarded items at the end of each term, with assistance from Facilities
- Monitor the scheduling of academic classes in the studios; post open studio hours once established; work with students to adhere to protocol around using studios when a faculty member is not present
- Organize, inventory, and monitor a shared prop closet used by various classes; develop a check-out system that ensures availability of resources and their safe return
- Work with faculty and students to assess facility needs, set reasonable expectations, and find creative solutions where appropriate; thoroughly research any requests or proposals for major improvements; receive, verify, and stock any potential deliveries
- Direct faculty to the Audio Visual and Model Registrar departments if these course-based needs are required
- Troubleshoot emergencies and report any major issues to Security or a manager on duty
- Perform daily and oversee seasonal maintenance and repair in conjunction with facilities, as
- High School diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in a fine art discipline preferred.

- Demonstrated commitment to providing superior customer service.
- Ability to work independently with limited oversight.
- Advanced knowledge of studio equipment related to fine arts
- Ability to troubleshoot technical and/or mechanical issues with studio equipment
- Advanced computer skills (proficiency in MS Office, Google Workspace preferred).
- Ability to work on several tasks simultaneously and set priorities.
- Position will require 21 hours per week. Ideal candidates should have flexibility in schedule and a willingness to work weekend and evening hours, if needed.
- Position will require physical activity (lifting and transporting equipment, artwork, supplies, etc., approximately 50 lbs.).
