Reports To: DEPARTMENT CHAIR & DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS


POSITION OVERVIEW: On-site technical support and equipment management.


WORK SCHEDULE: M-F 10:00AM- 6:00PM (Full Time)


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

POST/EDIT SUITE MANAGEMENT

 

  • Maintain edit suites and keep the technology in line with professional industry standards
  • Oversee post-production workflow and local storage network
  • Manage technical details related to the end of the year film festival
  • Schedule and supervise color correction, sound mixing, and show-reel creation in preparation for festival screening
  • Coordinate facility resources to accommodate classes and student projects
  • Manage and forecast equipment needs as technologies evolve
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of the SAN server
  • Communicate with Academic EQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT
  • Provide equipment check out primer for all students including on-set safety and

best practices

  • Create/maintain streamlined barcoding system for efficient & reliable equipment check-outs/ins
  • Allocate equipment needs for multiple shoots
  • Manage the replacement of lost/stolen equipment during shooting season
  • Coordinate repairs of broken equipment
  • Charge students for lost/damaged equipment, maintain records of lost/damaged equipment and communicate with student accounts regarding students on probation
  • Research and coordinate the purchase of new equipment
  • Attend trade shows, seminars, and classes to develop an understanding and awareness of important trends in the film industry
  • Maintain and supply AV to the studio class
  • Manage, train and schedule student workers to assist with equipment usage


DEPARTMENT SUPPORT

  • Assist in sourcing and hiring guest lecturers, when required
  • Design occasional department posters and flyers
  • Oversee the creation of intro, outro, and interstitial material as well as programs for festival screening
  • Support outside departments use of MPS Directing for their shoots
  • Conduct and assist with workshops covering diverse aspects of facility use
  • Assist faculty when necessary
  • Keep up with all A/V needs / communicate with SVA A/V Department
  • Coordinate updates to physical department infrastructure
  • Assist faculty with online learning technologies / Zoom as needed

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred
  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience
  • Familiarity with Digital Cine cameras and all relevant accessories including grip, electric, and sound equipment
  • Knowledge of FileMaker Pro
  • Knowledge of Adobe Suite
  • Film editing experience, Premiere Pro and / or FCPX
  • Graphic Design experience
  • Experience troubleshooting Mac Products
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • Strong Organizational Skills
