SVA MFA Art Practice presents “FAILED STATE: Restart,” a virtual exhibition of works by first-year MFA candidates, produced under the guidance of summer 2021 Artist-in-Residence Katya Grokhovsky. Featuring the works of Laura Cifuentes Almanza, Janine Brown, C. Fodoreanu, Heather Link-Bergman, Nika Nesgoda, Alison Pasquini, False Savior and Nico Sun, as well as Grokhovsky’s mixed media project-in-progress, Paradise Lost, the exhibition explores the notions of failure and the construct of capitalism through a combination of found materials in a variety of media, including video, installation, fiber, sculpture, performance, collage, photography and conceptual work. Prioritizing process, research and experimentation, “FAILED STATE: Restart” proposes a discourse between interdisciplinary practices within a context of a world in crisis.

Free and open to the public
