October 5, 2018—New York, NY—School of Visual Arts is pleased to announce that Makers Market will be returning to the Metropolitan Pavilion, located at 123 West 18th Street, just in time for the holidays. The one-day shopping event, in partnership with Renegade Craft, will take place on Saturday, November 17, from 11:00am to 5:00pm. Admission is free.

Building on the entrepreneurial spirit of SVA, Makers Market serves as a one-stop shop for all things designed and produced by the College’s innovative artistic community. Shoppers will find exclusive products and one-of-a kind handmade crafts. The curated mix of over 50 vendors selling a range of apparel, accessories and jewelry; furniture, decorative objects and housewares; and stationery, self-published books, magazines and comics will offer something for everyone.

Imagine finding all the gifts from your holiday shopping list under one roof: Dads will love the hand-painted and stitched ties from Girafee Wearable Art or the limited-edition print magazine about modern motorcycle culture, Motoveli Motorcycle Magazine. Moms will appreciate the handcrafted jewelry from Lock and Spoon or the floral cyanotypes of Rhizosphere Prints. Show the cool kids both young and old that you’ve still got it by giving them RISO-print selections from vendors like Chloe Giroux or Ava An. And for the person who has everything, crocheted stuffed animals from Studio Llama Llama or the tales of the one-eyed cousin of Kris Kringle in the book series Santa Clops from Wailgum Art Yarns.

In addition to offering unique goods, SVA Makers Market has a philanthropic purpose as well. It includes cause-driven vendors like Take a Stand, an organization that donates proceeds from the sales of its custom-designed silk scarves to Planned Parenthood, The Trevor Project, National Organization for Women and The International Refugee Assistance Project. And 100 percent of the market’s booth fees will help fund SVA Alumni Society student scholarships to support the next generation of artists, designers and entrepreneurs.
