Showcases the Best of SVA Product Innovation with 50 Vendors

May 3, 2017, New York, NY—The School of Visual Arts is pleased to announce Makers Market will be returning to the Metropolitan Pavilion, located at 125 West 18th Street, on Saturday, June 10, from 11:00am to 6:00pm. Admission is free.

Building on the entrepreneurial, do-it-yourself spirit of SVA, Makers Market serves as the exclusive one-stop shop for all things designed and created by its vast and innovative artistic community. Now you can find the best of SVA’s innovative products and handmade crafts under one roof. With the curated mix of over 50 vendors selling a range of apparel, accessories and jewelry; furniture, decorative objects and housewares; and stationery and self-published books, magazines and comics, there will be something for everyone at the market.

Notable products include Critter Bitters, the first cocktail bitters made from toasted crickets; Rocio Salceda’s hand-crafted, personalized clothing; Dwarf Star Design’s laser cut technology inspired by nature; Even Keel’s all-natural bath and body line; and innovative products from designer Richard Clarkson including Cloud, an interactive lamp and speaker system that has received press coverage in outlets from BuzzFeed to Fast Company to Wired.

In addition to offering unique goods, the market has a philanthropic purpose, as well: it helps to fund the next generation of SVA designers by donating 100 percent of the booth fees to the College’s Alumni Society student scholarships. The market also includes cause-driven vendors like Take a Stand, an organization that donates proceeds from the sale of their four custom designed silk scarves to Planned Parenthood, The Trevor Project, National Organization For Women and The International Refugee Assistance Project in support of celebrating diversity and the rights of women, LGBTQ and immigrant community.
