Package Design: Creating a Visual Story

Explore the artform of package design through best practices employed by major consumer packaged-goods companies. In this fun-filled course students will explore how to use visual storytelling to create a brand personality and connect with shoppers on an emotional level. The emerging role of AI and designing effectively for virtual shopping apps as well as the traditional store shelf will be covered. Projects will include re-envisioning known brands as well as creating new brand and packaging designs, utilizing the tactics covered in class. Finished projects can be used as job-ready portfolio pieces, adding package design examples to each student's existing work. Students new to package design or packaging designers looking to super-charge their skills will benefit from this course.
Prerequisite: A working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator and Photoshop).
Note: All students with an active registration in this course will be given free access to the Adobe Creative Cloud. This course is held on campus at SVA.
