Have a comic idea but not sure how to pitch it? Feel confident in your poetry but not your page layouts? Want to learn how to make a zine of your huge photo collection of your beloved pet chihuahua? This is the course for you. We will explore the fundamental principles of graphic design and how to use them effectively for visual storytelling. Through hands-on projects and collaborative exercises, the foundational elements of design will be examined, including typography, hierarchy and layouts. Students will engage in creative problem solving, critical thinking and iterative design processes that build from their love for the arts. By the end of this course, students will have a strong foundation in graphic design that prepares them to utilize these skills in multiple art disciplines.
