Rhino is a cutting-edge software program used in architecture and engineering, as well as product and jewelry design industries for 3D modeling objects using NURBS surfaces. Rhino provides all the tools needed to accurately model and document your designs for CAD drawings, renderings and rapid prototyping and manufacturing processes. This course will introduce and explore many of the common tools used in Rhino, with an emphasis on best practices. Students will gain a firm command of these fundamental tools and be able to translate their ideas into computer models, physical prototypes and products. Asynchronous lectures and home assignments will be available days before each live session, and students will have the opportunity to submit questions that the instructor will address during the live session. Live sessions will be recorded and students unable to attend can review demonstrations and discussions outside of class time.
NOTE: Access to the Visible Futures Lab is not available for this course. Students must install McNeel's Rhino software on their computers. Demo versions of this software, both Macintosh and PC platforms, are available for the duration of the course at no cost. This course is fully online and offered through a combination of regularly scheduled sessions during the listed course hours, as well as asynchronous material that may include prerecorded lectures and media, and interactive discussions.
