Are you interested in making web art? Or have you always wanted to learn how to code? This course is designed for artists who are looking to make creative projects that live within web browsers. We will focus on building a foundation of core coding languages including HTML, CSS and JavaScript. The course is designed for artists who want to develop proficiency with these coding languages and concepts while working on building fine art web projects. Each assignment will encourage you to think about and make projects with different coding techniques, media and browser-based interactivity. Alongside this technical and creative focus, students will explore a range of historical and contemporary web artworks. This is an introductory course, no prior coding experience is necessary.
Note: This course is fully online and offered through a combination of regularly scheduled sessions during the listed course hours, as well as asynchronous material that may include prerecorded lectures and media, and interactive discussions.
