Friends, Romans, countrymen-pick up your pencils and draw! This fast-paced course takes on the challenge of drawing from observation and imagination to create layered and complex works. Prompts from poetry referencing classical antiquity, selected artworks from museums (such as the Istanbul Archeological Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the National Roman Museum) and life models will be used as our subject matter. Drawings are quick-often timed at no more than a minute or two-to allow little room for being "tight" or overthinking. This course will push the fearless participant to really let go and focus on the beauty of expressive line. Open to the professional artist and fearless beginner.
Note: Drawings may be done in sketchbooks, loose sheets of paper and/or electronic tablets (iPad). Please work at a scale that is comfortable for you. Feel free to use drawing media of choice (but do take a look at the recommended media the instructor will provide). This course is fully online and offered through synchronous sessions during the listed course hours.
