Art for Kids
Enrichment for Future Emerging Artists

As part of its mission to meet the diverse needs of the larger community, SVA offers art programs for kids. Youth art classes at SVA are for students in grades K–8, and are taught by SVA professors and art education graduate students. Request information at aroman@sva.edu to learn more about the art lessons for kids offered in SVA's Continuing Education program.

Courses By Grade

  • Foundations in Art (Grades K–2)


    Sat., Oct. 17-Dec. 12

    No class, Nov. 28

    Hours: 10–11:30 a.m. or 1–2:30 p.m.

    Children are encouraged to express themselves, emphasizing cre­ativity and experimentation through age-appropriate projects, themes and skills. A variety of materials and techniques will be explored, including watercolor, tempera, mixed media, clay and cray-pas, as well as methods in printmaking.

How to Register

To register, please complete the Art for Kids Registration Request Form by clicking the button below. You will receive an email response when the registration has been processed, along with a link to remit payment.

Enrollment in a 8-session course is $160. Materials not included, link with list of materials needed will be provided.

Space is limited and registration takes place on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Program Policies

Children are expected to be punctual each day and will not be admitted into a class if they arrive late. All children grades K-6 must be accompanied by an adult to and from each class. Those enrolling in AEC – 1014, Grades K Through 2, must be five years or older.
