In this fun and engaging course, students will dive into the world of digital fabrication using the Wilde Lab, the state-of-the-art facility of the BFA Design and BFA Advertising programs. Students will learn the fundamentals of working with emergent technologies, such as lasers, UV printers, 3D printers and vinyl cutters, as they develop new objects each week. Working with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and 3D software, students can make specialty prints, stickers, magnets, buttons, shirts, ornaments, toys, lights and 3D objects from existing photos and videos. No prior software knowledge is necessary. While exploring design by creating physical objects, students will develop their composition, color and typography skills, and become familiar with the production pipeline through file preparation, fabrication and finishing. Students will complete the course with a diverse collection of techniques and objects to showcase in their portfolios, demonstrating their newfound expertise in digital design and fabrication!
