Founded in 2005, The Rookies is an online platform renowned for helping aspiring artists turn their passion for creative media and entertainment into successful careers. Dedicated to film, games, animation, immersive media, 3D visualization and similar creative fields of the future, The Rookies helps digital artists get discovered without having to compete with professionals for attention.

To further their mission to create a place to gain inspiration, learn new skills and connect with like-minded creatives, 12 years ago The Rookies began the Annual Rookie Awards, an event that showcases and discovers the best new talent graduating from courses in creative fields.

The Rookies announced their school rankings for 2022, based on 500 international schools in 91 countries. A total of 4401 entries submitted by students on their own were judged by industry professionals and SVA was named #1 as the Best 2D Animation School in the World and #5 as the Top 50 Creative Media & Entertainment Schools and Colleges in the World.

The College’s BFA Animation program, led by Chair Hsiang Chin Moe, performed extremely well in the Rookie animation awards, winning 2D Animation Rookie of the Year, and the 2D Animation Film of the Year, for Brooke Burnett’s film, The Spellening.

“Looking back in 2019 when I first walked into the door of BFA Animation to where we are today as #AniFam, I must say we’ve come a long way as a community,” Moe said. “This amazing achievement is a result of our students′ dedication and hard work through many struggles and difficulties and they indeed pulled through by showcasing their work globally. Most importantly, our faculty and staff are tirelessly sharing their knowledge and expertise so that our students can create and share their stories with the best tools possible.”

The online design platform The Rookies has named SVA the Best 2D Animation school in the world, honoring many BFA Animation students and graduates in the process.
