SVA continued its winning streak at the 2016 Art Directors Club (ADC) Awards, earning the School of the Year distinction for the seventh year in a row and winning an impressive 18 awards, including the much coveted Black Cube award—the first time a student project has ever earned the show’s top honor—for Taking the Plunge, which also won a Gold Cube for Motion, Animation. The widely lauded animated short, which was made by BFA 2015 Computer Art, Computer Animation and Visual Effects alumni Thadaeus Andreades, Marie Raoult, Nicholas Manfredi and Elizabeth Ku-Herrero while they were students under the guidance of thesis advisor Joe Burrascano, beat out agencies from around the globe.

Commenting on Taking the Plunge and the historic win, Rama Allen, chair of the 95th ADC awards, said, "We would have applauded the remarkable craftsmanship of this piece regardless of how much experience lay behind it, but we felt the rare early talent we saw deserved to be recognized with a commensurate honor. We congratulate the SVA team for some damn good filmmaking that made us laugh, exclaim and even feel a little bit jealous."

SVA was the single biggest winner at the ADC Awards this year, and earned the only Gold Cube in the entire Advertising category for Billboard/Outdoor Advertisement for the Container Store campaign (below) by Jeein Lee (BFA 2016 Advertising) and Taejun Park (BFA 2016 Advertising).
