SVA Library presents Gaby Collins-Fernandez, Florencia Escudero (BFA 2010 Fine Arts) and Kellie Konapelsky, who will discuss their work as publishers of Precog magazine, an annual independent magazine of artist projects and experimental writing that explores technology, cyber-materiality, gender and the body. The conversation will focus on Precog's history, as well as how to conceive, strategize and execute an independent publication.

Gaby Collins-Fernandez is an artist whose work deals with questions of representation, materiality and art history, and issues of individuation and seriality in painting. Her work has been shown in the U.S. and internationally, and she is a recipient of a residency at the Marble House Project in Dorset, VT, a fellowship at Yaddo, Saratoga Springs, NY, and a 2013 Rema Hort Mann Foundation Emerging Art Award. She is also a co-director of the artist-run art and music initiative BombPop!Up.

Florencia Escudero is an artist working at the intersection of sculpture, photography and digital imagery. Her works deal with questions of the body and the representation of desire in relationship to consumer culture. Her works have been exhibited internationally and in the U.S. She was a 2016 year-long artist-in-residence at the Loisaida Center, New York, NY, and has also completed residencies at Art Farm, Marquette, NE, and Pilchuck Glass School, Seattle, WA. Works by Escudero have been discussed in Editorial magazine, Aether magazine, The Art Newspaper, Hyperallergic and The American Reader.

Kellie Konapelsky is a designer and art director that has worked primarily within the cultural sector. She has over 10 years experience and specializes in art direction, publishing and exhibition design. She sees her practice as a collaborative process that is multidisciplinary by working alongside photographers, illustrators, film makers, writers and architects. She is also a graphic design instructor at Parsons, the New School.
