School of Visual Arts (SVA) presents “Traces: Memory, Nature and the Body,” a group exhibition featuring artwork from five artists and alumni of SVA’s Artist Residency programs. The exhibition will be on view from Tuesday, May 28, through Wednesday, June 5, at SVA Flatiron Gallery,133/141 West 21 Street, New York City.
“Traces: Memory, Nature and the Body” features artwork by Kathryn Nova, Rotem Reshef, Juan Villanueva, Melinda Kiefer Santiago and Cindy Weil. Each artist presents a unique perspective on the intersection of humanity and nature, shedding light on the ways in which actions, emotions and memories intertwine with the natural world. Through a variety of mediums and artistic approaches, they explore themes such as environmental degradation, conservation, spirituality, memorialization and the intrinsic connection between humans and their surroundings.
SVA’s Artist Residencies offer artists, designers and creative thinkers time, space and a supportive community in which to develop ideas and focus on their artistic direction, with summer programs on campus in New York City, as well as year-round in online formats.
