School of Visual Arts presents “Becoming,” an exhibition by BFA Photography and Video students. Curated by department chair Joseph Maida, the exhibition will be on view from Saturday, November 9, through Wednesday, November 27, at the SVA Gramercy Gallery, 209 East 23rd Street, New York City.
“Becoming” is an exhibition of visual conversations between distinguished BFA Photography and Video alumni and students, inspired by photographic prompts from Walker Evans’ 1938 monograph and eponymous MoMA exhibition American Photographs.
Alumni artists featured in this exhibition are Zak Krevitt (2014), Molly Matalon (2014), Corey Olsen (2014), Pat O’Malley (2014), Tim Schutsky (2015), Jake Sigl (2015) and Caroline Tompkins (2014).
The participating class of 2021 students are Jonathan Glam, Ori Haiblum, Audrey McLean, Jan Morales, Kevin Qiao, Calvin Sheely and Miguo Tang.
BFA Photography and Video provides a world-class education through a focus on fluency in all forms of photographic imagery and direct involvement with the professional community. The program’s forward-thinking curriculum emphasizes how still pictures and moving images have operated over history and their leading role in culture and society today.
