School of Visual Arts presents “Becoming,” an annual exhibition of BFA Photography and Video students’ work in direct conversation with work by our celebrated alumni. “Becoming” will be on view from Wednesday, October 27 – Friday, November 19, at the SVA Gramercy Gallery, 209 East 23rd Street, New York City.
For the 2021 iteration, ten third-year BFA Photography and Video students were invited to select a work by a department alumni from the exhibition COLL/NNECTION, currently on view in the BFA Photography and Video department at 21 East 21st Street. Each of these ten students was then prompted to create a new work that responds directly to their selection. The alumni selections have been moved to the SVA Gramercy Gallery, where they are now on view in tandem with the students’ responses to their work.
The alumni artists featured in this exhibition are Victoria Helena Queiros de Assis e Silva (2019), Logan Jackson (2015), Ina Jang (2010), Justine Kurland (1996), Patrick O'Malley (2014), Corey Olsen (2014), Francena Ottley (2019), Tim Schutsky (2014), Sarah Teller (2017), Caroline Tompkins (2014).
The participating class of 2023 students are Jake Dylan, Noa Lesche, Yuetong Lu, Adamaris Ordonez, Serena Peng, Will Premru, Rebecca Steighner, Cyle Warner, Andrea Zambrano and Amy Zhou.
