MFA Social Documentary Film presents a showcase of short films by program students and alumni, as part of DOC NYC, the largest documentary festival in America.

Screenings include Mom by Mingi Kimb, the story of Doosun Kim and her daughter's experience with childbirth anxiety; Babysitter: A Story of Alice and Me, by Rebecca Benson, a whimsical, up-close look at the relationship between a babysitter and a little girl; Bet By Heart (excerpt) by Aom Pinyopusarek (2016), the story of a teenage Muay Thai boxer who is banned for faking a knockout; GCT by Sarah Rachel Wainio (2016), a profile of the lesser known faces that inhabit Grand Central Station; Alex by Brian Inocencio and Kai Boonprakob, tell the story of Alex's life after a near fatal car accident; On The Ledge by Chelsi Bullard, the story of a father and son's fight to save Brooklyn’s Slave Theater; Rail Ties by James Stuart, about a subculture hidden in plain sight in New York City’s public transit system; and Big Hips Big Dreams by Melanie McLean Brooks, which tells the story of Tina as she pursues her dreams.
