BFA Animation and BFA Film present the 27th Dusty Film & Animation Festival , an annual, year-end event featuring students’ narrative, documentary and animated films.

Film screenings take place Saturday, May 7, through Monday, May 9.
Animation screenings take place Sunday, May 8.
The awards ceremony takes place Tuesday, May 10, 6:30pm, and will also stream live at dusty.sva.edu.

Dusty Outstanding Alumni Awards will be presented to animator and historian Tom Sito (BFA 1977 Animation), whose credits include Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Shrek and Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, and Academy Award-winning production sound mixer Mark Ulano (1975 Film and Video), whose credits include The Hateful Eight, Inglourious Basterds, Iron Man and Titanic, among many others.

Confirmed 2016 Dusty Awards presenters include Academy Award-winning screenwriter Josh Singer (Spotlight, The Fifth Estate, The West Wing), actress, producer and director Trudie Styler (American Honey [Official Selection, Cannes Film Festival], Freak Show, The Seagull), writer, director and producer Mark Osborne (The Little Prince, Kung Fu Panda, The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie), Academy Award-winning production sound mixer Chris Newman (The Exorcist, The Godfather, Amadeus), Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker Laurens Grant (The Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution, Freedom Riders), writer and director Ti West (BFA 2003 Film and Video) (The House of the Devil, Wayward Pines, VHS), editor Aaron Yanes (BFA 2001 Film and Video) (Tyson, You Don’t Know Jack, Europa Report), director of photography Michael Simmonds (BFA 2000 Film and Video) (Nerve, White Girl, Vice Principals), animator and SVA faculty member Howard Beckerman, producer and New York Women in Film & Television president Alexis Alexanian, IFP program manager and producer Zach Mandinach and filmmaker Neil Burger (Limitless, Divergent, Billions).
