Dusty Film & Animation Festival

BFA Film and Video and BFA Animation present the Dusty Film & Animation Festival, an annual, year-end event featuring students’ narrative, short, documentary and animated films. Film screenings take place Saturday, May 9, through Monday, May 11. The awards ceremony takes place Tuesday, May 12, 6:30pm, and will also stream live at dusty.sva.edu. Animation screenings take place Saturday, May 9. Outstanding Alumni Awards will be given to director and producer Dan Minahan (BFA 1987 Film and Video), whose credits include HBO’s Game of Thrones and True Blood and Netflix’s Marco Polo, and Disney animator Alex Kupershmidt (BFA 1982 Animation), whose credits include The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin.

Confirmed Dusty Awards 2015 presenters: Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner, actor Kathleen Turner (Romancing the Stone, The War of the Roses), director Mary Harron (American Psycho, I Shot Andy Warhol), Academy Award-winning writer/producer Alexander Dinelaris, Jr. (Birdman, The Year of the Monarchs), Academy Award nominated documentary filmmaker Deborah Dickson (LaLee’s Kin: The Legacy of Cotton, The Education of Gore Vidal), cinematographer Martin Ahlgren (House of Cards, Power), Academy Award winner Chris Newman (The Exorcist, Amadeus), Emmy Award winner Jesse Averna (Sesame Street, SyFy’s 12 Monkeys), New York Women in Film & Television President Alexis Alexanian, writer/director Andre Degas (Condition Red, First Coda), Chris Prynoski, founder, Titmouse Animation Studios (Metalocalypse, The Venture Bros.), and IFP program manager and producer Zach Mandinach.
