Exhibition

School of Visual Arts presents “What's Inside?,” an exhibition of projects selected by BFA Interior Design faculty members as the best student work of the spring 2014 semester. Curated by BFA Interior Design Chair Jane Smith, the exhibition is on view December 6 through January 10 at the SVA Flatiron Gallery, 133/141 West 21st Street, New York City.

Participating artists include Amanda Bacha, Meichun Cai, Wei Chen, Danielle Kachler, JooWon Kim, Vanessa Lacayo, Ailin Li, Danyang Long, Yavira Marte, Claudia Matuszczak, Erica Norton, Kwangsung Park, Dina Reziapova, Alexandra Seager, Paula Trivino and Wen-So Yang.

“The projects include a wide range of typologies,” Smith says, “from the investigation of space as a phenomenological event to an urban library and a micro apartment. In total, 16 projects are on display. Students had the freedom to present their work as they saw fit within their prescribed space utilizing various two- and three-dimensional techniques.”

BFA Interior Design prepares students to shape the places where we live, work and play. Taught by award-winning designers, architects and artists, students learn to integrate the latest technology and materials with time-tested processes and principles of design. The faculty and curriculum are guided by a commitment to sustainability, the interplay between art and design, and the responsibility of design to address social issues.
