BFA Visual & Critical Studies (VCS) is pleased to present "Home Tests," an exhibition featuring the work of the current VCS seniors, curated by Suzanne Joelson. Every VCS senior class has its own personality. This year there is a strong supportive bond. After an extended quarantine, the 4th floor studio seems like a welcome home.

Still, there are tests, challenges, accomplishments.

For many, the first home test was one for pregnancy. In a sculpture by Hank Bhatia video selfies of pregnant women are projected onto their sculpture of a rotund belly. Yiran Xu painted an annunciation. In a small painting of an ear on a chest, Nia Del Pino listens to a heart, as if to measure intimacy. In I've Reached My Highest Height, Emiri Fujimoto records her height, while recalling her childhood home. Vilma Clausen scales up her brother’s green card from wallet to wall-size painting. Kyra Husbands inserts family photos into grids as a way to chart unfathomable influences. On the screen, we are witness to the harmonic delirium of CJ Anasoulis’ disparate clips within clips, found videos and blended images.

In a gallery that can be seen within the space or through the window, "Home Tests" is a preparation for the imminent outside world.

The exhibition features work by CJ Anasoulis, Hank Bhatia, Vilma Clausen, Nia Del Pino, Emiri Fujimoto, Kyra Husbands and Yiran Xu.
