i3 Photo Lecture: Jai Lennard

136 West 21st Street, Room 418F
136 West 21st Street, New York, NY 10011MPS Digital Photography presents a talk with New York-based portrait photographer Jai Lennard (BFA 2008 Photography). In his photography, Lennard tells stories about perseverance, triumph, legacy, love, and strength. With a background as a performing artist, his deep respect for all art forms offers him a way to connect with his subjects and work seamlessly with them from behind the camera. He grew up in the Bay Area of northern California with family roots in Texas and Louisiana and participated in performing arts throughout his youth, including dance, music, and theatre. Lennard studied at Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA, where he started taking photos more seriously, then London, where he took his first photo course, and finally, New York, where he received his BFA in Photography at the School of Visual Arts. Since then, Lennard has lived in Brooklyn.
Starting in 2011 and after over 250 lectures, the i3: Images, Ideas, Inspiration Lecture series continues to feature leading photographers, artists, editors, gallerists, and industry experts. The spring 2025 i3 Lecture season is curated and hosted by MPS Digital Photography faculty member Julie Grahame. Most past lectures are available on YouTube and Vimeo.
