MPS Digital Photography presents a talk with Kareem Black (BFA 1999 Photography), an American portrait, celebrity and lifestyle photographer based in New York City.


Black graduated from the School of Visual Arts BFA Photography program in 1999 and has been shooting professionally since then. His clients include—but are not limited to—NBC Peacock, Netflix, MGM Grand, Times of London Magazine, The Golden State Warriors, Smirnoff Vodka, Chick-Fil-A, Viacom, Starz, Oxygen Network, TBS, Paramount, Serino Coyne, AARP, MTV, Smirnoff, VICE, Burger King, McDonalds, Malibu Rum, Bloomberg , Verizon, AT+T, Kool Aid, Burger King, Pepsi, Popular Science, Flaunt, Samsung and Fed Ex.


Black thrives on the energy on set and always aims to channel that kinetic intensity into his work. He is also a Star Trek super fan, chess player (with a chess rating of 1600 on chess.com), ex-skater and karaoke aficionado.


Starting in 2011 and after over 200 lectures, the i3: Images, Ideas, Inspiration Lecture series continues to feature leading photographers, artists, editors, gallerists and industry experts. Our Summer 2024 i3 Lecture season is curated and hosted by MPS Digital Photography faculty member Julie Grahame. Most past lectures are available on YouTube and Vimeo.
