Wendel A. White (BFA 1980 Photography) was born in Newark, New Jersey, and grew up in New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He was awarded a BFA in photography from the School of Visual Arts in New York and an MFA in photography from the University of Texas at Austin. Recent projects include “Red Summer,” “Manifest,” “Schools for the Colored,” “Village of Peace: An African American Community in Israel,” “Small Towns, Black Lives,” and others. A selection of images from the “Manifest” project are the subject of a Smithsonian Magazine article dedicated to the opening of the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
The i3: Images, Ideas, Inspiration lecture series features leading photographers and artists, hardware and software developers, and industry experts. This fall, the lecture series is celebrating its 10-year anniversary with the department's founding Chair Katrin Eismann returning as guest curator and host. Presented by MPS Digital Photography.
