When I immigrated to the U.S. from Brazil, I became deeply aware of the cultural differences around me and realized that to belong to a new place, one needs to know about its past. My photographic exploration of Hell’s Kitchen, the neighborhood I called home for three years, revealed that its raw history still endures through its community.
