Jayson Musson, His History of Art - Production Still C, 2022
MFA Fine Arts presents a talk by the artist Jayson Musson. Musson joined the MFA Fine Arts faculty in 2024.
Jayson Musson (b. 1977) lives and works in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He received his BFA in photography from the University of Arts, Philadelphia and his MFA in painting from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, as well as attending Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. A multidisciplinary artist, Musson has worked across performance, video, textiles, painting, and sculpture, utilizing art as a vehicle to probe historical legacy and cultural memory. Musson has exhibited internationally, with works in the permanent collections of The Museum of Modern Art, The MUDAM in Luxembourg, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, and The Whitney Museum of American Art. His work has been featured in The New York Times, Artforum, Art in America, Huffington Post, Interview Magazine, Artnet, Hyperallergic, ARTnews, Paper Magazine, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Style, and New York Magazine. He's been a visiting artist and lecturer at Brown University, Concordia University, The School of Visual Arts, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Pacific Northwest College of Art, UCLA, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Princeton University, Pratt Institute, POP Montreal, Rhode Island School of Design, The New Museum, and Bard College.
Talks is a series of lectures by artists, writers and critics presented by MFA Fine Arts. Talks are held on Tuesdays at 3:00pm at 133 West 21st Street in Room 101C and on Zoom. Participation in the Q&A is limited to MFA Fine Arts students attending the lecture in person.
