MFA Fine Arts presents a talk by Jennifer Coates.


Jennifer Coates is an artist working in Brooklyn, New York, and Lakewood, Pennsylvania. Her recent solo shows include “Para Pastoral” at Pamela Salisbury Gallery, New York; “Lesser Gods of Lakewood PA” at High Noon Gallery, New York; and“ Pagan Forest” at West Chester University, Pennsylvania. Recent group shows include “Psychedelic Landscape” at Eric Firestone Gallery, New York City and “Post Pop Landscapes” at Acquavella Galleries, New York and Palm Beach, Florida. She is the 2021 recipient of the John Koch Art Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, a 2021 NYFA Award in painting, a 2019 Fellowship at the Civitella Ranieri Foundation and a Sharpe Walentas Studio residency (2018-2019). Coates’ work has been written about in Art Critical, BOMB Magazine, Hyperallergic, Smithsonian Journeys, The Brooklyn Rail, The Huffington Post and Two Coats of Paint, among other publications.


Talks is a series of lectures by artists, writers and critics presented by MFA Fine Arts. Talks are held on Tuesdays at 3:00pm at 133 West 21st Street in Room 101C and on Zoom. Participation in the Q&A is limited to MFA Fine Arts students attending the lecture in person.
