BFA Visual and Critical Studies presents “Land of the Olive Groves,” an exhibition of mixed media artworks by Abdul Basir MIller, Violet Burburan, Leann Hajjawi, Melodie Jeng, Noshaba Khan, Lambert Lau, Luna Maniquis-Dormitorio, Aaron Meilin Peake, and Tessa Young. Curated by current BFA Visual and Critical Studies student Rania Mouawad, the exhibition will be on view from Thursday, January 9, through Sunday, January 26, at the SVA Flatiron Project Space, 133 West 21 Street.

Land of the Olive Groves,” is an exhibition and fundraiser that showcases the stories of Palestine through diverse expressions of defiance, strength, and resilience. Featuring photography, silkscreen, tatreez, painting, and illustration, “Land of the Olive Groves” reflects on the past 15 months of the fight against Israel’s genocide. From the canvas to the streets, resistance is an art form.

Highlights from the exhibition include:

Luna Maniquis-Dormitorio’s Underneath the Olive Tree explores ideas of regrowth, rebirth, and return.

Leann Haj’s Threads of the Diaspora discovers traditional Palestinian embroidery as both a personal expression and a collective act of solidarity.

Lambert Lau’s Empire captures the lush warmth and comradery built within the movement.
