In this series of pandemic photographs depicting the dynamics of my relationship with my boyfriend in a confined apartment in New York, the photographs embrace the mundane details of routine, scramble traditional roles, upend ideas about eroticism and seduction, and cultivate formal effects, like a washed-out palette that are considered undesirable in the aesthetics of photography. The work is a contemporary deadpan comedy. My boyfriend is the “guy next door.” The photographer develops her color film in the bathroom and is happy with the sometimes skewed results of a diaristic enterprise that hints at both contentment and conflict.
