Marcelina Pater merges the criteria of painting and sculpture in an open dialogue with the architecture of the gallery space. One series incorporates the use of layered masking tape onto canvases in a careful linear format, appearing from afar in the form of an Agnes Martin painting. These works and other flat-painted canvases that lean on the wall act more like panels to arrange in concert with the negative space around them.
