Michael Marella stacks bits and globs of paint atop long poles set precariously against the gallery wall, inviting the viewer to look very closely at them. Like miniature totems of paint in a variety of unmixed, ‘pure’ colors, the works punctuate the negative spaces of the gallery wall at strategic points creating a rhythmic, yet subtle installation of color and line.
