Kahyung Kim
MFA Fine Arts: 2023
Rosie Kim is a multidisciplinary artist participating in the School of Visual Arts MFA program. Her practice includes painting and digital sculptures. She brings classical myth as a metaphor to investigate and symbolize trauma and metamorphosis, symbiosis and entanglement in contemporary society. She uses the dynamic model for the ruptures between the ‘figures’ and ‘everyday objects’ of today’s visual, social, and political environments. She explores the integrity and vulnerability of bodies, their performative or prosthetic extensions, and the representation that opens identity to the possibility of radical othering.
