Yuli Aloni Primor
MFA Fine Arts: 2023
Yuli Aloni Primor is an interdisciplinary visual artist investigating themes of psychology and the feminine as it relates to both personal and existing modes of myth making and heritage. Born 1986 in Tel Aviv, Aloni moved with her family at age seven to NYC, where she grew up. She currently works between Tel Aviv, Berlin, and New York.
Before moving back to Israel-Palestine at age nineteen, Aloni attended La Guardia High School for the Arts, (NYC) and Hampshire College, (Massachusetts). In 2009 Aloni enrolled in Bezalel Academy of the Arts, (Jerusalem), where she received a B.A. from the Fine Arts Department.
In 2020 Aloni lived in Berlin where she received an Artist Visa and studio. She is currently enrolled in the MFA program at the School of Visual Arts in NYC.
In her work Aloni explores the intersection between femininity, image and language by taking intimate images and presenting them in the public space, creating moments that are both intimate and powerful at the same time.
The meeting between the organic and the digital, the body and the space, are recurring themes that guide her creative process. In her most recent work she reveals these themes through different media and technologies such as 3D printing, laser engraving, and photography.
