MPS Branding Thesis Presentations: Deconstructing Identity
Jul 10, 2019, 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
Five graduate groups will present their repositioning on one of the following topics, all seen through the lens of how humans construct their identity: work, touch, aging, parenting and Puerto Rico.
Our culture is now at a place in our collective history where it is almost entirely composed of brands. Everything we consume – even the most basic commodities like water and salt – are brands. Brands are so persuasive in their personal, political, economic, aesthetic, psychological, ethical and social consequences that they leave no part of us unaffected. And we use these brands to construct a personal identity and a public persona. This year’s thesis undertaking will investigate and deconstruct five modern aspects of identity creation that the graduates believe are in dire need of repositioning.
Presenting graduates: Clare Albers, Maria Manuela Andrade, Gabriella Bartelle, Katherine Burke, Roberta Cajado, Anabella Chiou, Namita Deliwala, Talia Evans, Ling Hsu, Bronwyn Hunt, Ali Kearney, Ria Knapp, Rory McKinnon, Jason Park, Gelsomina Picariello, Malavika Rao, Charmie Shah, Devanshi Shah, Michael Shirey, Theresa Brondholt Sorensen, Dylan Taylor, Sakhi Todi, Ericka Garcia Valiente, Emily Verselis, Fangjie Wang, Yunke Xiao and Sophia Yuan.
