From acclaimed graphic novelist Dash Shaw (BFA 2005 Illustration) comes his feature-film debut: My Entire High School Sinking into the Sea, starring Jason Schwartzman, Lena Dunham, Reggie Watts, Maya Rudolph and Susan Sarandon. This audacious film is equal parts disaster cinema, high school comedy and blockbuster satire, told through a dream-like mixed media animation style that incorporates drawings, paintings and collage.

Dash Shaw will introduce the film and Cartooning Coordinator Jason Little will interview him following the screening. Presented by BFA CartooningBFA Illustration and SVA Comix Weirdos.

Dash and Assaf are muckrakers for of the school paper at Tides High. They wrestle with typical teen problems of romance and jealousy, until an earthquake causes a the school to slide into the sea, where it slowly sinks like a shipwreck. Hailed as "the most original animated film of the year" and "John Hughes for the Adult Swim generation" (Indiewire), the film’s everyday concerns of friendships, cliques and young love remind us how the high school experience continues to shape who we become, even in the most unusual of circumstances.
