A new generation of artist-photographers are defining the pictorial editorial page with innovative and idiosyncratic views of the world.

MFA Photography, Video, and Related Media presents a discussion between three program alumni: remarkable photographers Ryan Koopmans and Ryan Pfluger, and Jacqueline Bates, the award-winning director of photography for The California Sunday Magazine. What now defines a freelance career for an artist-photographer? What has changed in the editorial process? How do you maintain the integrity of your vision on assignment? The three participants will discuss their work and decision-making process. A Q&A will follow. RSVP here.

This event is the first of a number of public lectures and presentations over the next year and a half that mark MFA Photography, Video, and Related Media’s 30th Anniversary, sponsored by the Theodor Scheimpflug Society and B&H.

Free and open to the public
