School of Visual Arts presents an exhibition of printed works by undergraduate students. Curated by faculty members David Sandlin and Gunars Prande, “Prints and Small Books” is on view February 8 through February 22 at the SVA Chelsea Gallery, 601 West 26th Street, New York City. Admission is free and open to the public.

Artists include In Kyung Chah, Kelsey Gallagher, Ki Wun Jeong, Alexa Keshtgar, Michael Mirabile, Seung Yeon Oh, Stephanie Pena, Jane Stephanny, Emi Takahashi, Julienne Tan, Giulia Venturelli, Cory June Vigants, Richard Wagner and Jamilla Wu.

“This exhibition brings together the printed work of artists coming from BFA Fine Arts, BFA Cartooning, BFA Illustration and BFA Photography,” Prande says. “Each artist has chosen to work with traditional forms of printmaking to create print editions, artist's books or other unique works. The limits and visual qualities of each medium affect the final result and each artist has had to decide how best to use printmaking to express his or her ideas. Experimentation, repetition, color separation, book layout and binding are all variables that the artist must contend with during the production of the printed work. Today, almost every printmaking process is a hybrid, combining traditional hand-drawn images with digital, collage and painting techniques.”
